the women, being fitted for a chair is in good health, just needs a chair for long distances. her son, a police officer, a proud career for a thai man, however, his mother wants him to return farming as it is no longer "safe" in the south. there is a true war going on as the muslims are killing anyone, including police officers who get in their way. the man told a story and as he spoke, his mother lowered her eyes and tears welled up, i took her hand, she patted mine as he shared a story. he had just lost 3 police officer friends to a bomb. when asked why not return to the family farm?.. "my job is protecting the people and providing for my family". amazing!
